Preparing Hearts for Christmas
Second Week of Advent
Lord, grant us Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help us to be instruments of Your peace in our homes and in the world. As we light this candle, kindle in our hearts a desire for true peace—peace with You, with ourselves, and with others.

"Comfort, give comfort to my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem."
— Isaiah 40:1-2
Today we hear God's tender words of comfort to His people. As parents, we are called to bring this same comfort to our children—to speak tenderly, to reassure them of God's unfailing love, and to prepare their hearts for the coming of Jesus. In the busyness of this season, take a moment to offer words of comfort and encouragement to each member of your family.
How can we comfort someone who is feeling sad or lonely this Advent season?
As a family, write a card or note to someone who might need encouragement—a grandparent, a neighbor living alone, or a friend going through a hard time. Deliver it together or send it in the mail!
