Today's Advent Reflection

A moment of prayer and reflection for your family

Wednesday, December 10, 2025

"Comfort, give comfort to my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem."

— Isaiah 40:1-2

Reflection

Today we hear God's tender words of comfort to His people. As parents, we are called to bring this same comfort to our children—to speak tenderly, to reassure them of God's unfailing love, and to prepare their hearts for the coming of Jesus. In the busyness of this season, take a moment to offer words of comfort and encouragement to each member of your family.

💬 Family Discussion

How can we comfort someone who is feeling sad or lonely this Advent season?

💌 Family Activity

Write a Comfort Card

As a family, write a card or note to someone who might need encouragement—a grandparent, a neighbor living alone, or a friend going through a hard time. Deliver it together or send it in the mail!

The O Antiphons

Coming December 17–23

The O Antiphons are seven ancient prayers dating back over 1,200 years. Prayed during the final week before Christmas (December 17–23), each one calls out to Jesus using a different title from Scripture:

O Sapientia (Wisdom) O Adonai (Lord) O Radix Jesse (Root of Jesse) O Clavis David (Key of David) O Oriens (Radiant Dawn) O Rex Gentium (King of Nations) O Emmanuel (God With Us)

These beautiful prayers inspired the beloved hymn "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel." Return on December 17 to pray them with your family!
